Canada's physicians are calling on provincial and territorial premiers to move quickly on existing health-care reforms, saying millions of Canadians continue to face barriers to care as emergency departments struggle through another busy summer.
The appeal came Monday as Canada's premiers gathered in Prince Edward Island for the Council of the Federation's summer meeting.
In a joint statement led by the Canadian Medical Association and signed by medical association presidents from across the country, physicians said governments should focus on measures that can improve access to care while reducing administrative burdens on health-care providers.
