Upcoming Leadership Discussion

Building Canada's Readiness for Innovative Therapies: Capacity, Infrastructure and Equitable Access

Canada’s ability to benefit from medical innovation depends on more than scientific discovery, it also requires a health system that is ready to support timely, sustainable and equitable access. Innovative therapies require specialized infrastructure, trained multidisciplinary teams, strong referral pathways, adequate hospital and outpatient capacity, coordinated policy support and patient navigation resources to ensure patients can access treatment in a timely and equitable way. Without a system-level approach, access risks remaining uneven across provinces and regions, with patients and caregivers facing geographic, institutional, financial, logistical and operational barriers to care.

Hosted by Longwoods and Gilead, this discussion will explore what health-system readiness means in practice and what Canada must do to ensure patients can benefit from innovation regardless of where they live.
