Every day across the province, far too many Ontarians living with severe mental illness find themselves navigating a system stretched to its limits. Faced with few supports and a rising cost of living, they’re oftentimes forced to turn to overcrowded emergency departments and face homelessness.

This crisis carries a disproportionate disease burden, but funding for appropriate support remains inadequate. The lack of accessible, timely, and appropriate services hinders recovery of individuals and the system and actively exacerbates the problem, creating a cycle of escalating need. This is especially true for Ontarians facing complex and enduring mental health challenges, who often fall through the cracks of traditional care pathways.
